In accordance with Part XI of the (Planning and Development) Acts 2000 (as amended) and Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Limerick City & County Council proposes to carry out the following development:
Remodelling and Extension of Adare Heritage Centre, Main Street, Adare, Co. Limerick, V94 DWV7.
The development will consist of: the partial demolition of the building at ground and first floor levels with remodelling and extension to provide: reconfigured and enlarged flexible cafe / retail / exhibition spaces along with new public toilet facilities including a changing places toilet, all at ground floor level; an extended first floor level to include a library, exhibition/community space, staff accommodation, additional public toilet facilities, storage rooms and ancillary plant; updated elevations to all facades of the building to include signage / interpretative panels to the north and south elevations; existing site layout to be amended to accommodate an improved public realm, updated landscaping, extended car and bicycle parking including accessible car parking spaces, electric vehicle charging points and bus and coach parking with consequent changes to utilities and drainage. The site to which the application relates is within an Architectural Conservation Area and contains within its boundary the setting of a protected structure (RPS No. 850).
In accordance with Article 120(1)(a) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, as amended, the Local Authority has carried out a preliminary examination of the nature, size and location of the proposal, and has concluded that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development, and an EIA is not required.
In accordance with Article 120(1)(b)(i) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, as amended, the Local Authority has carried out a screening for environmental impact assessment of the proposal. Having regard to the information specified under Schedule 7A of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, as amended, and based on an examination of the nature, size and location of the development, it is determined that there is no likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development.
Nonetheless, a person may within 4 weeks from the date of the notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether this development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment. Such a submission should be addressed to the Secretary, An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1.
Limerick City and County Council in accordance with the requirements of Article 250(1) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening and has determined that a full Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of the proposed development.
Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy from 6th September 2024 up to and including 4th October 2024 (4 Weeks) at Limerick City & County Council, Merchant's Quay, Limerick between 9a.m. - 5p.m. Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) and at the Planning Development Department, Limerick City & County Council Offices, Dooradoyle Road, Limerick V94 WV78 between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (excluding Bank Holidays). Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection online during the above timeframes at https://mypoint.limerick.ie. directing to the Local Government Ireland Planning System
Submissions and observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated may be made:

Submissions must be received on or before 4pm on the 18th October 2024 (Further two weeks).
Note: Only submissions made in the above manner will be considered as valid submissions for the purposes of the Mayor’s Report to be presented to Council.
