Part VIII - Landscaping Fill Area at Ballygrennan, Limerick

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 (as amended)

In accordance with Part XI of the Planning & Development Acts 2000 (as amended) and Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Limerick City and County Council proposes to carry out the following development:-

Landscape Fill Area on lands in the townland of Ballygrennan, Limerick for disposal of uncontaminated inert soil and stone material from Coonagh Knockalisheen Distributor Road.

The proposed development comprises-

• The reuse of uncontaminated inert soil and stone material excavated as part of the Coonagh Knockalisheen Distributor Road project as landscape fill on lands bounding the scheme. The proposed finished ground levels of the proposed development will help to integrate the road embankment into the surrounding landscape at Ballygrennan.
• The overall landscape fill volume comprising of the excavated soil and stone is 26,000m³ within the original Compulsory Purchase Order boundary and 39,000m³ on lands outside the Compulsory Purchase Order. This is equivalent to approximately 47,000 tonnes within the original Compulsory Purchase Order boundary and approximately 72,000 tonnes outside the Compulsory Purchase Order.

Limerick City & County Council has carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Report in accordance with the requirements of Article 120(1B)(b)(i) and has determined that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment. Accordingly, it has been determined that EIA is not required in respect of this proposed development. Nonetheless, a person may within 4 weeks from the date of the notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination.

Limerick City & County Council has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening Report and has determined a that a full Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of this proposed development.

Plans and particulars of the proposed works will be available for inspection from 13^th December 2019 up to and including 20^th January 2020 during office hours at the Customer Services Desks, Limerick City and County Council, Corporate Headquarters, Merchant’s Quay and County Hall, Dooradoyle, Limerick and online at http://mypoint.limerick.ie

Submissions or observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the works would be situated, will be accepted up to 17:00 hours on the 03^rd February 2020 in writing to Design & Delivery Services, Limerick City and County Council, Corporate Headquarters, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick V94 EH90 or online via http://mypoint.limerick.ie
