Main requests

In order to meet the various Sustainable Development goals please consider the following: 1. i.) Large population living in Caherconlish /Ballyneety area and beyond. There is insufficient public transport for residents to encourage other ways to move around. Increase bus runs into the city. ii.) Bike hire stations to be located further outside the city e.g. to Ballysimon, UL, Ballyneety etc. iii.) Electric car charging points for the Ballyneety/Caherconlish area and encourage a car share scheme such as GoCar in these areas so that cars are available when needed but removes the need for so many car owners. Community / recreation: As the population of Caherconlish increases: i.) Allocation of an inclusive walking park in the Caherconlish area. One that can be used by the residents and allows for access to all categories of residents. Pop-up cafes etc could be encouraged to avail of the area for their business. There are many areas that could be developed as walking routes with some minor modifications of pathways/ consent from landowners. ii.) A rural 'work from home hub' in the Caherconlish/Ballyneety area to allow companies to have people work from their communitites with the shared facilities. This would allow businesses in the area to benefit and the community to develop and benefit from people staying there and not commuting every day. iii.) Please consider allocating an area in Caherconlish/Ballyneety to run a community garden - allowing for ALL the (social, mental, physical) benefits of community involvement. Workshops for learning about growing, sustainable growing of veg etc. and allow for the passing down of knowledge to the community.
1. Limerick CYPSC is a strategic county-wide committee aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people and should be named and acknowledged as a key partner within the Limerick Development Plan where relevant. 2. Under the forthcoming Limerick CYPSC CYPP, the committee has identified the following priority areas under the five national outcomes for children and young people. Where these priorities overlap with Limerick Council, Limerick CYPSC are open to developing a collaborative partnership approach to addressing these priorities. 3. It is very clear that there is a social gradient in achieving positive outcomes for our children and young people Limerick. Limerick CYPSC believes that children, young people and families from identified priority should be a key consideration in the development of the Limerick Development Plan. 4. The participation of children and young people is an essential part of any process of future planning for Limerick city and county. Limerick CYPSC strongly encourages the active engagement of young people in this process using the Lundy Model of Participation 5. Limerick CYPSC has identified the Food Partnership as a key interagency structure through which to address food poverty at a local level and would underscore the importance of Limerick Council continuing to be a key strategic partner under this strategic approach as part of the Limerick Development Plan. 6. Limerick CYPSC would like to strengthen its role in supporting Limerick Arts Office to enable the creative potential of all children and commits to facilitating this goal and supporting the participation of children and young people across Limerick city and county in the arts through a partnership approach. 7. Limerick CYPSC would encourage Limerick City and County Council to take a broader look at the term Age Friendly to include children and young people as well as older people. Taking this broader interpretation of ‘Age Friendly’ should inform future planning across all local authority developments.
