Limerick City and County Council are developing a Public Realm Plan for the most effective presentation, management & development of public streets and spaces for the village of Adare. The plan will indicate, in broad terms, the role of the public realm including key urban spaces, pedestrian & cycling priority linkages and streetscape enhancement for the village. The plan will deliver a shared vision for the future development and evolution of Adare. The plan will be used as a key tool to guide future public and private investment in the village.
REDscape Landscape & Urbanism (https://www.redscape.nl/) are the appointed consultants tasked with the delivery of the Public Realm plan. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table having completed similar masterplans for the Main Street & Church Square in Hoogeveen (NL), Dublin North Port Greenway (IRE), The Grand Canal Dock & and North Lotts Dublin (IRE), The Askeaton Public Realm Masterplan (IRE), Bruff Masterplan (IRE) etc.
In order to inform the design process Limerick City & County Council would like to invite you a make comments on the draft Adare Public Realm Plan document now uploaded on mypoint for public viewing. Further information on the draft plan proposals can be viewed via an online presentation that was delivered by Patrick McCabe on 28th February 2022, this presentation is available to view via the video link below:
All submissions received via mypoint before 12 noon on Thursday the 23rd of May 2022 will be considered by the Council for the final Public Realm Plan for Adare.
A consultation event at which the Draft Public Realm Plan document for Adare will be introduced will also take place in the Adare Town Hall on Thursday 24th March 2022 from 9.00am to 7.00pm. This event will coincide with an initial consultation event for the Adare Flood Relief Scheme which will also be on display in the Town Hall from 3.00pm to 7.00pm on the same date.
A people-focused approach is extremely important to the successful delivery of this project. Any interested party who wishes to attend this exhibition of the draft public realm plan is welcome as Limerick City & County Council wish to work together with all community groups, communities of interest, businesses and residents within the Village.

Submissions or observations can be made on the Draft Adare Local Area Plan 2024 – 2030, the Draft Public Realm Plan and associated environmental reports up to 5pm on Monday 2nd of October 2023 and will be taken into consideration by the Council before making of the Local Area Plan.
