Limerick City and County Council is at an advanced stage in the preparation of the Limerick Biodiversity Action Plan 2025 – 2030. As a requirement set by the government under our National Biodiversity Action Plan, all local authorities and government departments are to have Biodiversity Action Plans in place by the end of 2026. Limerick City and County Council plans to finalise the plan during the first quarter of 2025..
Pre-draft public consultations took place during 15th April to the 7th June of this year, 2024. Submissions received during the consultation phase were considered by the Limerick Biodiversity Forum, and where relevant, integrated into the actions contained within the Draft Limerick Biodiversity Action Plan (available below).
The Draft Limerick Biodiversity Action Plan 2025-2030 is available in English and the Irish translation will be available here on the 29th November. Also provided are the Appropriate Assessment (AA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Screening Reports.
We are now inviting the public and key stakeholders to review the draft and submit your feedback ahead of Friday, January 10th 2025, submission deadline.
