Limerick City and County Council is commencing the preparation of the proposed Limerick Development Plan 2022 – 2028, which is the first Development Plan, which will cover both Limerick City and County, as a result of the merger of the both Limerick Local Authorities in 2014. This is your opportunity to influence and shape the future of Limerick. What is your vision for Limerick?

The preparation of the Development Plan is one of most important functions of the Council, setting out the strategic vision and policy direction for Limerick to 2028.

The Issues Paper is the first step in the Development Plan preparation process, which focuses on a number of key themes including; People and Places, Economic Development and Employment, Connectivity, Infrastructure, Landscape, Heritage and Green Infrastructure, Social Community and Recreation and Climate Change and Environmental Assessments and which have supporting Background Papers, focusing on key issues under each theme.

Public consultation is a critical element of the Development Plan preparation process, Limerick City and County is committed to engaging with the citizens of Limerick and will engage through a number of methods to capture what you have to say. There are 3 opportunities for public engagement throughout the plan preparation process, which will take approximately two years to complete. The Issues Stage is the first of these opportunities, which will run from August 15th 2020 to October 12th 2020, please make your submissions and Limerick City and County Council invites everyone to get involved in the Development Plan process, which will inform the preparation of a draft Development Plan. We would like to encourage meaningful engagement on shaping the future of Limerick, from an economic, social, cultural and environmental perspective.

You can make a submission in one of the following ways:

    Forward/ Strategic Planning, Limerick City & County Council, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick V94 EH90.

The deadline for submissions is Monday 12 October 2020 at 5pm.
 

Please note, in accordance with Section 19 of the Planning and Development (Amendment) Act, 2018 all valid submissions shall be published online within 10 working days of receipt by Limerick City & County Council.
