PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 (as amended)

 

In accordance with Part XI of the Planning & Development Acts 2000 (as amended) and Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Limerick City and County Council proposes to build an Urban Greenway (cycling and walking) providing connectivity between Castletroy College and Gaelscoil Chaladh an Treoigh. The works will be located in the townlands of Newtown and Newcastle, Castletroy, Limerick.

The proposed improvement works will consist of a new 3.5m wide cycleway alongside a new 2.5m wide footpath, enclosed by 1m grass verges, with the main spine extending for approx. 820m linking Castletroy College Road with the access road to Gaelscoil Chaladh an Treoigh.  Secondary spines will link to future residential development to the east (approx. 170m in length) and Castletroy Shopping Centre (Town Centre) to the west (approx. 260m).  Appropriate access points to the Greenway will be provided along its length.  The proposed works also include for the installation of LED public lighting, security fencing where appropriate, tree and shrub planting areas as well as surface water drainage. Accommodation works will be undertaken as required including improvement works and car park alterations as necessitated for Gaelscoil Chaladh an Treoigh.

In accordance with S.I 476, 2011, Section 250, Planning and Development (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations, 2011, Limerick City & County Council has carried out an Appropriate Assessment Screening report and it has been determined that an Appropriate Assessment is not required.

Limerick City & County Council has also carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Report and has determined that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment. Accordingly, it has been determined that EIA is not required in respect of this proposed development. Nonetheless any person may within 4 weeks from the date of this notice apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection from Friday 13th December 2019 up to and including Monday 20th January  2020 during office hours at the Customer Services Desk, Limerick City & County Council, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick, V94 EH90, and online at https://mypoint.limerick.ie.

Submissions and observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, will be accepted up to 5p.m. on ­­­­­­­Monday 3rd February 2020 in writing to Design & Delivery Services, Limerick City & County Council, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick, V94 EH90 or online via https://mypoint.limerick.ie.
