PART 8 DEVELOPMENT

 

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ACTS 2000 (as amended)

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 (as amended)

 

In accordance with Part XI of the Planning & Development Acts 2000 (as amended) and Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Limerick City & County Council proposes to carry out the development described hereunder at the following site at Mill Road, Corbally, Limerick City.

 

The proposed development will consist of:

  1. An off-road shared pedestrian/cycle facility of varying width (2.2m to 2.9m) along the eastern side of Mill Road from the junction of Corbally Road to Scoil Íde;
  2. An off-road shared pedestrian/cycle facility 3.6m wide along the eastern side of Mill Road in front of Scoil Íde, with a 4.8m wide perpendicular parking area;
  3. A 3.5m wide off-road shared pedestrian/cycle facility along the eastern side of Mill Road from Scoil Íde to the back entrance to St Munchin’s College;
  4. Shared surface for cyclists and vehicles to be provided from Brookhaven/Spring Grove to Siul Na hAbhann. Existing footpaths to be retained along this part of the scheme;
  5. Footpaths to be widened to 2.0m on the eastern side of Mill Road to the North of Laurel Cottage;
  6. Designated on-street car parking to be provided between Brookhaven/Spring Grove to Siul Na hAbhann where available;
  7. A consistent 5.0m wide carriageway, except for the three sections of “Give Way” at pinch points along Mill Road;
  8. Road widening at two locations along Mill Rd;
  • Bishop’s Field from Scoil Íde to back entrance of St Munchin’s College (Eastern Side)
  • Private lands at Roseneath Cottage (Western Side)
  1. Junctions to be altered as per the Design Manual for Urban Roads & Streets (DMURS);
  2. A new surface water drainage system;
  3. A new public lighting scheme;
  4. Grounding of overhead services and removal of existing ESB poles on existing footpaths; and
  5. All associated site works.

 

Limerick City & County Council has carried out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Report in accordance with the Roads Act 1993 (S.I. No 14 of 1993), as amended and has determined that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment. Accordingly, it has been determined that an EIA is not required in respect of this proposed development. Nonetheless any person may within 4 weeks from the date of this notice apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination.

 

Limerick City & County Council has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening Report and has determined that a full Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of this proposed development.

 

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection from Friday 7th May 2021 up to and including Friday 4th June 2021 by appointment only during public opening hours (excluding bank holidays) at the Customer Services Desk, Limerick City & County Council, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick, V94 EH90 and at the Planning and Environmental Services Department, Limerick City & County Council Offices, Dooradoyle Road, Limerick, V94 WV78. Plans and particulars of the proposed development will also be available for inspection online during the above timeframes at https://mypoint.limerick.ie.

 

Submissions and observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated may be made in writing to the Planning and Environmental Services Department, Limerick City & County Council Offices, Dooradoyle Road, Limerick, V94 WV78 or by email to planning@limerick.ie on or before 4pm on Friday 18th June 2021.

 

Submissions and observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated may be made online at https://mypoint.limerick.ie on or before 4pm on Friday 18th June 2021.

 

Note: Only submissions made in the above manner will be considered as valid submissions for the purposes of the Chief Executive’s Report to be presented to Council.
