Improved safety and livability of Limerick City
Safer route to cycle with children.
Make this happen so that people of all ages and abilities can walk and cycle safely and comfortably
Resident in the city, would like to have a more accessible city less dependant on cars.
Excellent infrastructure that is needed for all, and needed for safe transit in and out of the city centre.
Need to get where I am going quickly and efficiently.
This route is one of the essential primary spurs of the Limerick Metropolitain Cycle Network and will link a quarter of the population to the city centre. Its importance to the growth of the city centre, to our climate obligations and to the wellbeing of our city can not be overstated.
Because cycling is good for peoples health, the environment, and makes more desirable spaces in the city.
The proposal makes the 1/2 mile stretch between the junction with SCR/ Asbourne Ave. / New St. and SCR / Alphonsus St. inaccessible to its residents, will create traffic chaos, will create a less safe environment for cyclists, pedestrians and motorists and will destroy the architectural heritage of an old Georgian / Victorian city centre residential community.
Henry street resident
The SCRd was a road that you could cycle in both directions and also had way less traffic in past
Good connectivity from the Raheen side to the city center by bicycle. A well thought plan.
Business owners like myself need Limerick to implement a safe active travel system to make the city attractive to business and to create a lielveable city that will entice people to live and work and do business in the city. We need the active travel plan to be implemented as soon as possible and applied throughout the whole city.
To improve the city and to help fight climate change.
Quality of life; active travel; children; safety
Adverse disruption to the residents of the SCR and connecting estates
Public health, safety for pedestrians and cyclists
Let's make cycling safe for us all but especially our kids
Bring me further!
Safety, comfort attractiveness, incentivise modal shift.
Road safety and improved usage of proposed cycle facility.
I am hugely in favour of the scheme if we can have the best possible version. We need it for so many reasons, but we must be mindful of residents needs without watering the whole thing down. This needs to happen and from my reading of the submissions most would support it if parking and delivery concerns could be addressed.
We performed a parental survey covering our 217 student population earlier this year whose findings showed that almost half of our students walk to school daily. Three quarters of respondents found that road safety in the vicinity of the school was a persistent issue with almost all surveyed in support of works that would improve walking and cycling approach routes to the school. Please feel free to contact us for further information regarding this survey.
To ensure that the current demographic mix of SCRd area can be maintained into the future and would continue to be an appropriate place for older and more vulnerable residents to live.
This has to work and for it to work we must allay the fears and concerns of residents who feel they have to oppose this but really wouldn't if their needs were to be addressed. More work needs to be done on this aspect on a door to door basis by people who support the scheme but are willing to listen and take note.
Safety
I am a resident of the S.C.R. and i do not believe that this is the best path forward.
Safety Risk
No access and road too narrow
Climate change, societal benefit, generational legacy
Renders the 1/2 mile stretch between the SCR Fennessey's junction and the SCR Alphonsus St. inaccessible to its residents, will create traffic chaos, will create a less safe environment for cyclists, pedestrians and motorists and will destroy the architectural heritage of of an old Georgian / Victorian city centre residential community.
Hello my family has lived in the ballinacurra area for 40 years. My friends that I visit regularly live on SCR too. The new council proposal to have all the traiffic use Lifford Ave and the removal of all parking on SCR road is beyond ridiculous. A lot of elderly live in the area. Where would you like them to park? Do they have to walk to a bus stop with their sticks to get a bus? Or do you expect 80 year olds to get on a bike? The number of people that would benefit from a bike lane in this area is minimal. Im guess maybe 4 a day. The amount of people who will suffer, namely the residents, is huge. If you want to put in a bike lane put it on the dock road. Its wide enough, no residents etc. Its the most logical place.
less traffic, less pollution, alignment with climate targets, more livable city, more attractive city, more modern city
Safety, health, civic integrity, environmental sanity, the lives of citizens now and into the future.
Important infrastructural updates allowing for mixed-mode transportation and commuting alternatives into/from Limerick City.
Important infrastructural updates allowing for mixed-mode transportation and commuting alternatives into/from Limerick City.
The plan will encourage cycling, reduce school traffic, take e-scooters and bikes off the footpaths, and give children greater independence.
As above
Safe environment for pedestrians and cyclists of all ages.
Access for older persons
I believe that this proposal will benefit a very small proportion of people and have a very negative impact on a large part of the community in the area.
To alleviate concerns of residents and retailers in this area
Insufficient planning inputs. Data taken over too short a period. No overall traffic / movement plan. Yet another piecemeal piece of change in the City.
in the interests of sustainability, art and history as well as health & safety of cyclists, pedestrians and to alleviate traffic congestion within Limerick city centre
Listed in main submission
Change is badly needed. Status Quo is not sustainable,
Safety
People will just manouvere around the proposed barrier as is.
