Limerick City and County Council Draft Local Authority Climate Action Plan 2024-2029

Limerick City and County Council has published the Draft Climate Action Plan 2024-2029, as required pursuant to Section 16 of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021. The draft plan aims to position Limerick as a national leader in climate action and strengthen the delivery of effective climate action at local and community levels, through place-based climate action.

The plan sets out key actions that will support Limerick in its transition to becoming a climate resilient, biodiversity rich, environmentally sustainable and climate neutral economy by 2050. The actions of the plan not only look at how Limerick City and County Council can transform its own operations and services, but also addresses what other organisations the Council can partner with and what supports it can give to local communities and individuals.

Limerick City and County Council has now published its Draft Climate Action Plan. The draft plan aims to position Limerick as a national leader in climate action and strengthen the delivery of effective climate action at local and community levels, through place-based climate action.

The Public Consultation on the Draft Climate Action Plan 2024 - 2029  will concluded at midnight on 5th February 2024. Submissions to the consultation will be reviewed and a report on the submissions will be developed for consideration by the elected members. The final plan is due for completion and adoption by elected members in the first quarter of 2024.

Have Your Say on the Draft Limerick City and County Council Local Authority Climate Action Plan

In order to ensure that local based information is included, Limerick City and County Council are inviting observations and recommendations for consideration in the in the draft Limerick Climate Action Plan.

All submissions made between December 22nd 2023 to February 5th 2024 (inclusive) will be considered by the Council. Your submission will be moderated in line with our Moderation Policy. If approved, your submission will be published on the MyPoint website and your name will be published. Submissions can be submitted online, by email or in writing with details provided below:
