Chapter 1.Planning documents and report

Ábhair:

The area around St Nessans Primary School in Raheen is so chaotic that it is an accident waiting to happen and it will probably be a child who will be the victim. Cars clog up all the footpaths around the entire area, to the extent that people have to step onto the busy road to get by. All road signs are ignored and double yellow lines mean nothing. Bus stops mean nothing and so the buses frequently have to let people off onto the road.  This is a dangerous hazard, especially for children.  Cars park right on the corners with total impunity. They do this because they can, without consequences. There needs to be physical barriers installed to prevent this . This is the ONLY remedy.
Any installations of proposed cycleways will be similarly treated and will be just another waste of money and another safety hazard. The space in front of the school needs to be maintained as is , it is already overcrowded. Any space for lanes can  be taken from the green space in front of the houses at Whitethorns.
In truth this road is now totally unsuitable for such heavy traffic anyway and a new road opened between Campbells Roundabout and Quins Cross.
