Chapter 2. Drawings and Photomontages

Fr Russell Rd is a key link between Mungret and Raheen / Dooradoyle, and crucially, between 6 schools in the area (as well as Mary Immaculate college and other primary and secondary schools in the city). It is therefore important that the cycle lanes are designed and implemented in such a way that the safety and comfort of people on bikes is prioritised in line with the hierarchy of road users. Pedestrians must take priority on this scheme, followed by cyclists, public transport users, and finally private vehicles.

The addition of these lanes has the potential (when linked to a more coherent network) to contribute hugely to a more sustainable city and one where children have more independence to travel by themselves.

finalky, please don't shirk the hard decisions when it comes to the crunch, particularly on the next section (the narrower, trickier bit between Gouldavoher and St Paul's roundabout)!!!

Make it safe, prioritise active travel modes, do it right, make the hard decisions
