Chapter 1. Planning documents and report

Ábhair:

The footpath at the exit/entrance to Ballinvoher Estate is not suitable for a mobility scooter /wheelchair so the footpath needs to be dropped.  There are a number of residents in Ballinvoher Estate with reduced mobility who use rollators/wheelchairs and mobility scooters.  Currently if any resident (or visitor) to Ballinvoher wishes to go out onto the Fr Russell Road using a mobility scooter / wheelchair they have to do so by using the roadway which can be a blind spot for traffic coming into the estate and hence is very dangerous.

I would request that the council lower the footpath and both sides of the entrance to make this accessible for those with limited or reduced mobility.

I have marked the area on the map below

Main opinion:

Disability access not catered for in Ballinvoher, Fr Russell Road

Main requests:

Footpath lowering on both sides of Entrance/exit to Ballinvoher in order to cater for disabled/reduced mobility residents

Main reasons:

The current situation of having to use the road way for wheelchair users coming from Ballinvoher Estate onto the Fr Russell Road is extremely dangerous. Lowering the footpath on both sides would enable disabled/reduced mobility residents to come and go from the estate safely.
