Chapter 2 - Planning Report and Drawings

I believe that there needs to be an upgrade to the SCR to facilitate all road users. However, i believe that the current proposals for the SCR are not the best solution and do not consider the neighbourhood, residents and users of the SCR.

The proposal in its current state is divisive and heavily preferences the needs of cyclists at the cost of residents and users of facilities in the area.

The proposal will remove all parking and create a host of issues relating to safe access and egress to properties of local residents and other area users along the length of the SCR.

Yes, we need to better control the flow of traffic along the length of the SCR and create a safe space for all road users but removing all public parking and installing a 2 way contra flow cycle lane along a narrow and heavily residential road dose not seem to me to be the best solution.

Better signage, better road surfaces, traffic calming, speed limits, (enforced with speed cameras), rights of way for cyclists travelling down the S.C.R,  better footpath layout and parking layout would maybe pose a better solution for all users.

I have cycled in Limerick city all my life and am a regular user of the TFI bike scheme. I truly support the need for safer conditions for all road users and I can see the benefits of parts of this proposal but I believe that in its current state it dose not deliver a viable solution.

Main opinion:

I oppose the current proposals for the South Circular Road.

Main requests:

I request this proposal not be approved in its current form.

Main reasons:

I am a resident of the S.C.R. and i do not believe that this is the best path forward.
