I grew up on the South Circular Road and cycled to school along the proposed route. During that time I was hit by motor vehicles twice and had several other close calls due to the narrow road.
It is hard to encourage children to cycle to school or parents to allow them when it can be considered unsafe. While the roads are heavily congested at present this is largely due to parents dropping off children to four schools in close proximity. Were more students to cycle to the secondary schools this would naturally ease congestion.
This would be a positive development for the city and it has my full support.
