Chapter 2 - Planning Report and Drawings

There needs to be a gradual move to greener modes of transport and I agree that cyclists need to be given safer access in my area. They should feel equally as safe on the roads as drivers do. However, abruptly removing parking from residents who depend on it would have ripple effects for the whole community. I think making all of South Circular Road a one-way system for cars would allow for cycle lanes to be designated in most parts of the road with no impact to parking. It would have some inconvenience to residents but not to the same extent as a lack of parking. Any parking that is removed simply moves the problem to a different street nearby, possibly causing blockages, as the number of cars will not change overnight. More accessible public transport is needed to allow people to live in Limerick without cars.
