Narrative 4 is an example of one of the few spaces in Limerick where my young filmmakers have been able to access an appropriate room for their post-production activities, and the reduction of allotted space here would impact our already stretched capacity to operate. N4 are an extremely open and supportive organisation, characteristics that the local cultural scene relies on. I sincerely hope their space can be retained in the current form, cultural organisations in Limerick are in a crisis when it comes to accessing space, and the loss of Narrative 4 would be a blow to those of us trying to establish sustainable cultural organisations. The team at Narrative 4 understand the need to support other organisations, and ELF could not have succeeded without their support.

In the recent study into the impact of Covid on the Cultural Sector in Limerick, it was abundantly clear from the responses that one of, if not the, single greatest issues facing individuals and organisations is a lack of spaces. Given the limited number of appropriate spaces that are accessible in Limerick, the loss of the Narrative 4 space would be extremely detrimental to a fragile and under resourced sector.

I sincerely hope that this space can be retained in its current form while the rest of the building is renovated as planned.

Main opinion:

Limerick cannot afford to lose a cultural space. Narrative 4 is a rare example of an accessible space in Limerick.

Main requests:

Retain the Narrative 4 space while continuing the other developments as planned.

Main reasons:

In a recent study, a majority of respondents who work in the cultural sector cited a need for additional space in Limerick. We cannot afford to lose one of the few examples of a cultural space in Limerick city.
