Safety concerns for all users

As a resident on Corbally Road, I am very concerned about the  unsafe proposed planning application by Limerick city County Council.

Apparently, Parents of children at Scoil Ide in a survey said that they would fully support these proposals. As a resident I was never asked for my opinion or given a opportunity to voice my concerns.

This road is very busy with traffic, particularly at school times, drop off and collections. Current illegal parking on double yellow lines is constant . There has never been anything done  about this from the garda or traffic wardens.  This is frustrating and dangerous for residents trying to access their own driveways.

Proposed widening of footpaths on the southern side of the Corbally Road will create more danger and risk for both residents and users, ie: pedestrians, cyclists, E-scooters and  wheelchair users. This will be dangerous for both the residents exiting  and entering their driveways.

Proposal to plant new low level and soft landscaping along the Corbally Road.  This will cause further risk and will be hazardous to residents accessing and exiting their driveways on to this busy road. It will impede the ability to drive out from house driveways safely. The need to reverse one’s car safely, obviously this has not been taken into consideration. Currently one has the ability to reverse in safely in order to drive into the flow of traffic.

What is the need/ reason  for the proposed 3 new raised pedestrian crossings along Corbally Road. Currently there are three crossings.

The proposed redevelopment path along the northern side of Corbally Road from Scoil Ide to St Munchins   college will mean knocking a long established stone wall. Surely if safety is paramount for pedestrians , cyclists etc, a shared footpath inside this existing wall would be a safer alternative.

Tightening  the proposed junctions at Roseville Gardens, Lanahrone Avenue and St Munchins College will further exacerbate traffic which in turn will be unsafe for all users of Road and footpaths. Limerick City Council has a duty of care to all users both residents, Road users and path users. These proposals are not taking  people safety into consideration.

The proposal of a new off road pedestrian/cycle path behind Sunnyside  Montessori from the Mill road to the Corbally Road is absolutely ludicrous.  This would essentially make this Montessori an island??? Surely anyone can see how extremely unsafe this would be? This would be a perfect location for anti social behaviour. In the past this area has been used for this type of activity, so much so that the garda and the garda helicopter have been out to try to control this anti social behaviour.
