Chapter 1 - Planning Application Form and Notices

I have lived in the Corbally area on and off for many years and am very well versed with the concerns of pedestrians i.e. you may recall they are defenceless human beings who in this case live near the city centre and choose to use their feet to get around.

1.) Before coming to my point I do wish to applaud the 3 new raised pedestrian crossings along the Corbally Road - speeds of vehicles on this section are completely at odds with those expected in a calm, surburban neighbourhood (what Corbally used to be, before it became a glorified carpark). In particular this initiative will help protect children, disabled / old people, pets and natural wildlife (e.g. the beautiful foxes who live in the surrounding area).

2.) However, concerning the widening of the existing path along the southern side of the Corbally Road from the Lanahrone Avenue junction to the Shannon Drive junction, I voice a strong objection. No real world rationale has been put forward to support this initiative (I walk along this path every day, do any of you?) and the only purpose it will serve is to encourage bicycles, e-scooters and thick-wheeled electric bicycles to intrude upon the space and peace of mind of pedestrians. Fair is fair you have already catered for this annoying cohort on the other side of the road. I find this to be an unacceptable infringement and ugly modification to the character of that stretch of the Corbally Road.

Main opinion:

No real world rationale has been put forward to support the change.

Main requests:

Leave the path from the Lanahrone Avenue junction to the Shannon Drive junction the way it is.

Main reasons:

The only purpose that widening the path will serve is to encourage bicycles, e-scooters and thick-wheeled electric bicycles to intrude upon the space and peace of mind of pedestrians.
